Psychiatric nurses to start industrial action from next week

PSYCHIATRIC nurses will begin “industrial action more effective than strike” from next Monday in an escalation of their protest over compensation.

The unions will order members not to comply with requests to redeploy from community facilities to the acute hospitals from that point.

Redeployment had allowed the Health Service Executive (HSE) to maintain adequate services in the country’s main hospitals in spite of the nurses’ refusal to work overtime for the last week.
