Hanafin under fire for axing school repair fund

EDUCATION Minister Mary Hanafin was under fire last night for axing a repair fund that more than 1,000 schools had applied for.

Despite a quarter of primary and secondary establishments appealing for summer works scheme cash, the initiative has been suspended for a year.

Fine Gael education spokesman Brian Hayes condemned the move.
