No investigation by gardaí into medical files find

GARDAÍ said last night that they are not investigating the discovery of hundreds of confidential medical records at a former landfill in Cork.

While a Garda spokesperson said on Thursday the dumping of the hospital records at a site near Glounthaune was “under investigation”, a statement last night from the Garda Press Office said it was “not currently under investigation by An Garda Síochána”.

The matter instead involved the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Data Protection Commissioner, Cork County Council and the Health Service Executive (HSE), according to the statement.
