Family lack horsepower to escape beach

CO MEATH’S Laytown beach is renowned nationwide for its once-a-year September horseracing spectacular.

But if any horses were in training on the beach yesterday afternoon then they might have been outrun by the family who left their car on the sand as the tide came in.

The family realised only too late that their car was rapidly being submerged by the tide.
