THERE is a myth out there that the menopause only lasts two years, says Phil Cooley, 56, who has had hot flushes on an off over the past five years.

Phil, from Rialto, Dublin, has coped without HRT, preferring to eat well, exercise and keep busy.

She is married but has no children. She works part-time, is actively involved in her community and looks after her mother.
