Wise one Cian, 11, wins right to name baby elephant ‘Budi’

AN 11-year-old boy has come up with an exotic and apt name for Dublin Zoo’s two-month-old Asian elephant.

Cian Cooke, from Tallaght, suggested Budi, meaning “wise one” in Indonesian, for the newborn animal after searching on the internet for a name.

The two-month-old bull elephant was officially named yesterday after an online competition which more than 1,000 people entered.
