Suspected brothel madame arrested

A GARDA crackdown on prostitution in Cork city led to the arrest of a suspected brothel madame and the seizure of thousands of euro.

The woman, who is in her late 30s, was detained after gardaí raided a flat at North Mall on Tuesday afternoon.

Another woman, also in her 30s, but from eastern Europe, was in the flat at the time. She was not arrested, but was said to be “helping gardaí” with their inquiries. And last night the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) became involved in the investigation.
