Welfare groups welcome report

CHILD welfare groups have hailed a Health Service Executive review of services as a vindication of their pleas for urgent extra funding for the sector.

However, they have severely criticised the HSE for neglecting services and the children dependent on them to the damning extent exposed by the long-awaited report.

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children said the report brought under the spotlight the impact underfunding and staff embargoes had on the most vulnerable children.
