Locked out driver hit by time delay
A hapless Group 4/Securicor employee was stuck outside his cash-in-transit van all day yesterday while technical experts tried to figure out how to break into the impermeable vehicle after its shut-down mechanism activated. Eventually, after more than six hours of reluctantly providing amusement for curious local children in the quiet village of Coolgreaney in north Co Wexford, the boffins gave in and called a tow-truck from Waterford.
Gardaí in nearby Arklow initially thought a raid was under way when the van’s automatic alert system activated, but were quickly informed by Group 4 that the incident was more a case of serious embarrassment than serious crime.
