Inquiry highlights failures by gardaí

THE detention of 14-year-old Brian Rossiter was “unlawful” and there was a “failure to investigate” all the circumstances surrounding his death, according to a statutory inquiry into the boy’s death.

An assistant Garda commissioner will now decide whether any disciplinary or criminal action will be taken.

The inquiry undertaken by Hugh Hartnett SC is critical of several named gardaí serving in Clonmel at the time of Brian’s death.
