THE uneasy stalemate between Aer Lingus and its ground staff following workers’ rejection of the airline’s cost-saving plans could come to a sudden end next Tuesday.

That is the date when the pilots are due to complete their ballot on their contribution to the company’s €20 million savings programme.

It appears likely the pilots will vote in favour of accepting the company proposals, in which case the airline will have secured commitments to €10m in staff efficiencies from the cabin crew and pilots.
