LAWYERS for a company headed by Dublin businessman Paschal Taggart will appear before a French court this week to challenge claims for €21 million in damages.

Mr Taggart is chairman of Dublin-based software firm Orbiscom, which is defending claims that it illegally infringed patent rights for technology that combats credit card fraud.

The case is part of a long-running legal battle between Orbiscom and Syrdrec, a small French firm that alleges the Irish company is using technology that it first patented in 1998 and which eliminates credit card skimming.
