AN IRISH cheese company was presented with a top food award in England last night.

The West Cork Natural Cheese Company, based in Schull, which produces the Desmond and Gabriel brand, received the most outstanding contribution to the food industry award, at the 2008 Observer Food Monthly (OFM) awards ceremony in London.

The company received the newspaper’s award for their campaign to produce traditional un-pasteurised cheeses.
