IRELAND is outperforming most European Union countries when it comes to creating jobs, new figures show.

In the last quarter women accounted for 69% of the 66,800 increase in people at work, which stands at 2,138,900 persons.

Between September and November the number of females in jobs rose 45,800 or 5.2% to 924,800. The number of men in employment rose 21,000 or 1.8% to 1,214,100 during the same period.
