Big Yin Billy heads to Leeside

IT’S been said only tickets to a U2 show sell out quicker than a Billy Connolly gig, but that’s not because Bono is funnier.

Big Yin Billy heads to Leeside

From Cork to Canberra, Connolly is without doubt the most famous stand-up comic who’s still standing.

He has broken box office records wherever he has played and holds the record for the most sold out performances at the Sydney Opera House.

The good news is you don’t have to book a flight to Oz to catch his show as the king of comedy is coming to Cork.

Cork Opera House will stage the Big Yin’s Too Old To Die Young show for three nights on May 29, 30 and 31.

He has been touring this show since 2006, kicking off in Australia and selling out in a matter of hours. He followed this with a six-week theatre run at the off-broadway 37 Arts Theatre in New York, and towards the end of the year sold out a month’s tour of Canada. In 2007 the same tour travelled to England and Wales, where he again sold out every venue.

His appearance at the London Palladium attracted the likes of Michael Caine, Elton John, Bob Hoskins, George Michael, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr and Twiggy.

Tickets, which will cost €45 and €55, go on sale Monday, March 10.

Internet and telephone bookings are subject to a booking fee of €2.50 per ticket.
