Burke offers to take lie test

VETERAN Sinn Féin councillor Christy Burke offered to take a lie detector test at the Mahon Tribunal yesterday to prove he never threatened Tom Gilmartin, one of the principals behind the Quarryvale development in west Dublin.

Burke offers to take lie test

Last year, the Sligo-born businessman identified Mr Burke as being among a group of IRA men in dark glasses who had allegedly issued a death threat to him during a meeting in a Clondalkin pub in the early 1990s.

Mr Burke, who represents an inner-city ward on Dublin City Council, said he was prepared to stand up “and shout from the rooftops” he had never met Mr Gilmartin at any time, nor had he attended any meeting in a pub.
