Parents urged to be vigilant after meningitis death

THE first meningitis death in the Cork and Kerry region for four years has been confirmed by the Health Service Executive.

The confirmation came as the HSE said the traditional annual peak time for an increase in meningitis cases was upon us, and it urged parents to keep a watchful eye on their children.

No details were released by the HSE about the age or sex of person who died from meningitis.
