BoI offers nursing home fund

WITH demand on nursing home beds set to increase due to an ageing population, Bank of Ireland (BoI) has established a €75 million kitty for the nursing home sector.

The launch of the “grey pound” fund ties in with demographic predictions that by 2011, 14.1% of the population will be aged 65 and over, up 3% on 2002.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) estimates an additional 10,000 beds will be required over the next 10 years and BoI sees this as a good business opportunity.
