PLANS to twin Dublin City with Beijing have met with opposition from councillors and human rights campaigners.

City chiefs, foreign affairs officials, representatives with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and local Chinese interest groups met at the Mansion House last night to discuss linking the two capitals.

But a war of words has already broken out with parties internally disagreeing. One official deemed the plan a “big jolly” for councillors to travel free to the Olympics while the Labour Party are split on the proposal.
