Health initiative for intellectually disabled a hit

THE first health promotion package developed especially for people with intellectual disabilities is making a real difference to their lives.

Those taking part in the pilot phase of the initiative that has just concluded were found to be more confident, displayed fewer behavioural problems and had improved sleep patterns.

It is hoped the programme, developed by Special Olympics Ireland in collaboration with the Daughters of Charity Service for Persons with an Intellectual Disability, can be extended nationally.
