CSO: 50% increase in household income

THE average weekly household income two years ago was almost €1,000, 50% higher than it was five years earlier, figures have revealed.

Total direct income — which increased from 47% from €585 to €862 — accounted for most of the increase, latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show.

While total direct taxation incurred by the average household increased by 26%, it was a reflection of the overall increase in income.
