AFTER a heart attack claimed the life of a retired Garda sergeant, the community he served for decades decided it was time for action.

And now a defibrillator is housed in a unit attached to the side of the tourist office in Askeaton.

A fundraising effort was launched after the sudden death of retired sergeant, Malachy Keaveney who retired seven years ago having been stationed in Askeaton for more than 30 years.
