IRELAND rates among the worst countries in Europe for female representation in politics and other significant decision-making structures.

Figures from the central statistics office also show women earn significantly less than men and are vastly under-represented in top roles.

The report, Women and Men in Ireland 2007, said a mere 13% of TDs are females, placing us 23rd of the 27 EU countries for the proportion of women in parliament.
