HSE maintains staffing embargo

THE controversial ban on hiring staff, including front line health professionals, will remain in the health service for at least another year.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) draft Strategic Plan for 2008 also reveals there will be no investment for additional services over the next 12 months.

Health authorities have admitted that the recruitment freeze introduced in September has not been effective enough in balancing the books for this year.
