IRISH consumers are using more energy and generating higher levels of carbon emissions despite increased awareness about global warming.

A report has revealed that oil use in this country has more than doubled since 1990, while about 2% of energy used comes from renewable sources.

More than half of all energy consumed here is from oil, and the report warns that such a high dependency is a “considerable concern”.
