THE guidelines for schools on how to deal with bullying are to be revised next year after it emerged they have not been updated for almost 15 years.

The guidelines issued in 1993 will be updated by the Department of Education after guides on school codes of behaviour are finalised.

“This review will take into account issues such as legislative developments, involvement of the support services available to schools, technological advancements such as use of the internet, email, mobile phones and camera phones and the latest developments in international best practice on dealing with bullying behaviour,” a department spokesperson said.
