Man quizzed over death of woman in hotel room
The man was earlier arrested in Co Tipperary.
Meanwhile, it emerged last night that a man gardaí wanted to question was out on bail in relation to a violent crime.
The suspect, aged 23, appeared in court recently in Co Tipperary on charges related to an incident in which a child was assaulted during a burglary.
He was charged with burglary and with assaulting the child. It is believed the child was taken from its bed during the break-in.
Gardaí are satisfied he was with Sylvia Roche Kelly, 33, at the Clarion Hotel in Limerick the night her naked body was placed in a bath.
Gardaí say she had been assaulted. There are unconfirmed reports that it was a sexual attack.
The man checked into the hotel at about 6pm last Friday and later met Ms Roche Kelly in a Limerick night spot. They went back to the room on the 11th floor of the hotel.
Supt John Kerin said they are satisfied Ms Roche Kelly was assaulted, but a postmortem could not conclusively say if the assault caused her death.
They are now awaiting further toxicology tests.
Gardaí have met with the family of the suspect and they gave their full co-operation.
Friends of the dead woman have been interviewed to ascertain if she had arranged to meet the man or whether it was a chance liaison.
Gardaí are also checking if contact was made via an internet dating site.
Ms Roche Kelly had been with friends in the city before she left them. CCTV from one night spot later showed Ms Roche Kelly with the man gardaí want to interview.
The hotel CCTV footage show them going to the room on the 11th floor and it shows the man leaving the room on his own before he left the building without checking out.
Sylvia Roche Kelly’s funeral takes place today at Sixmilebridge where she ran an art gallery.
Ms Roche Kelly had two children, Shane, 12, and Aisling, 4.
