Funeral of cocaine victim today

THE funeral of Kevin Doyle, who died as the result of taking cocaine at a party in Waterford, takes place today.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at midday today at St Mary’s Church, Ballygunner.

His burial will take place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

At 12.30pm on Tuesday, following brain stem tests, 21-year-old Kevin’s life support machine was turned off.

A white powder removed from the Ballybeg Square house party, suspected of being damp cocaine, was not toxic, investigating officers said after a number of forensic tests.

On November 25 a fleet of ambulances ferried party-goers to the hospital in the early hours of the morning in terrifying scenes never seen before by serving gardaí in the city.

One of the three men initially critically ill improved during the day, while another 11 people were treated at the emergency department before being discharged after observation and several tests.

John Grey, 23, is still battling for his life following the 21st birthday party.
