Email lottery scam warning

WEB giant Yahoo has warned users to watch out for spam emails telling recipients they have won thousands, if not millions of euro in a fake lottery.

The emails, bearing the masthead of Yahoo, tell the recipient they have won the money through the website’s internet lottery which is organised by the Yahoo Awards and Windows Live.

“Yahoo collects all the email addresses of the people that are active online, among the millions that subscribed to Yahoo and Hotmail and other email providers,” the spam email states. “Six people are selected monthly to benefit from this promotion and you are one of the selected winners.”
