Residents fear suburban crime in relocation of city families

PROBLEMS that have blighted the sprawling troubled estates of Moyross and Southill could fester in suburban areas of Limerick city if action is not taken, a residents action group has warned.

The planned regeneration programme will lead to the demolition of more than 1,000 houses.

But there is increasing concern among resident associations at moves by Limerick City Council to transfer, to private estates, the tenants from Moyross and Southill as some of the families being relocated have, reportedly, been involved in crime.
