O’Keeffe to break ranks on vote

FIANNA FÁIL backbencher Ned O’Keeffe yesterday became the first government TD to say Health Minister Mary Harney should resign.

Saying “the buck has to stop somewhere”, Mr O’Keeffe made clear his belief Ms Harney should step aside.

“I think Mary Harney should resign… A matter of life and death is involved for many unfortunate female persons across the island of Ireland,” he told Newstalk radio station.
