Advertisement blitz to target festive shoppers

CORK is about to launch a national TV advertising blitz to attract Christmas shoppers to Leeside.

Advertisement blitz to target festive shoppers

Facing intense competition from Dublin, Galway and Waterford, the city’s Marketing Partnership has packaged a range of events under one banner to encourage shoppers to spend their money in the southern capital. The partnership has teamed up with communications company H&A Connect to create the advertisement.

It features and promotes the city’s first festive food markets which will take place on the Grand Parade and in Bishop Lucey Park, new ice rink attractions, the city’s traditional pantomimes and various carol concerts. The advertisement will be screened first on November 26 and will run for three weeks on both Irish and satellite TV stations.

The strategy is supported by the city council, Cork Airport, the Irish Hotels Federation, city vintners, members of Washington Village, the Cork Business Association, Cork Chamber and Frinailla Developments.

Marketing Partnership spokesperson, Liz McEvoy said packaging all of the city’s Christmas festivities together was crucial to promote the entire city.

“This year a special series of weekend events will be presented by Cork Marketing Partnership at Christmas in the Park in Bishop Lucey Park in the heart of the city,” she said.

“Every Saturday and Sunday throughout December , Santa will be in residence at the park to greet youngsters, Cork Choirs will convene with carols, some of the city’s famous brass bands will perform Christmas music, and a selection of food and craft stalls will supply hot chocolate and other treats and entertainment.”

* Details will be available at www.christmasincork.ie from November 26.
