Rhys Meyers arrested at Dublin airport
The 30-year-old star was due to fly to London having spent the weekend in Dublin where he appeared on the Tubridy Tonight chat show to talk about his new movie, August Rush.
Rhys Meyers was charged with being drunk and a breach of the peace and was released to appear before Dublin District Court next month.
Ang Lee’s Ride With the Devil and Julie Taymor’s adaptation of Titus Andronicus were two of his early successes.
In more recent times he starred in the Woody Allen drama Match Point.
He also had a part in Mission Impossible III.
But the runaway success of The Tudors, shot in Bray, Co Wicklow, in which Rhys Meyers plays a young, sex-crazed Henry VIII, will ensure steady work for the foreseeable future as the makers prepare for a second season.
