Hanafin urges universities to raise funds

“GO out there and bring in philanthropic investment,” was the message from Education Minister Mary Hanafin to the universities which have been seeking increased funds for undergraduate courses.

The third-level colleges had been given an annual increase for the past several years and had benefited from substantial capital funding for new infrastructure, she said.

There would be 100,000 additional children coming into primary schools over the next seven years and any additional resources available would go towards meeting their needs, Ms Hanafin explained.
