Visiting historical sites in top four of Irish cultural activities

MORE than half the population visited historical sites and monuments last year, putting it among the top four cultural activities of the Irish.

This is despite the country having only two UNESCO heritage sites, and it should encourage the Government to look for similar status for other sites, including Tara, according to TaraWatch.

Reading a book remained the most popular cultural pastime, with more than three-quarters of the population saying they read at least one book last year.
