Irish Times to appeal High Court order

THE editor of The Irish Times, Geraldine Kennedy, and the newspaper’s public affairs correspondent, Colm Keena, are to launch a Supreme Court appeal in a bid to prevent them having to disclose to the Mahon Tribunal the source of information about financial payments to Bertie Ahern during the early 1990s.

Irish Times to appeal High Court order

The High Court was informed yesterday that Ms Kennedy and Mr Keena will appeal a High Court order, issued last month, directing them to answer questions put to them by members of the tribunal.

Tribunal chairman Judge Alan Mahon wants to quiz the two journalists about the source of information behind the article about large payments to Mr Ahern which was published on September 21, 2006.
