A 21-YEAR-OLD Gaelic footballer was yesterday found not guilty of assaulting another player during a match in Valentia, Co Kerry, on August 21, 2006.

After an absence of 12 minutes, a jury at the Circuit Criminal Court, in Tralee, acquitted John O’Connor of assaulting Stephen O’Sullivan, 27, causing him harm, on the occasion.

O’Connor, an apprentice carpenter of 8 Reenard View, Knightstown, Valentia, was playing with Valentia Young Irelanders, while O’Sullivan was a member of the Skellig Rangers team.
