Arson attacks cause €5m damage

A GARDA car was petrol-bombed and a business was gutted in one of a series of arson attacks in what was one of the country’s worst Hallowe’en night attacks.

Gardaí believe the incidents, in the Innishmore Industrial Estate on the west side of Ballincollig, Co Cork, early yesterday, which caused up to €5 million worth of damage, could be linked.

They conducted house-to-house inquiries in the nearby Innishmore housing estate late last night and examined CCTV footage as Superintendent Con Cadogan appealed to the public for help.
