Youths ‘intended throwing kittens into bonfire’

Noel Shinnors, who is the cruelty prevention inspector for Limerick, came across the youths in Garryowen clutching the terrified animals.

He said: “They were holding the two kittens and it was clear they were about to throw them into the bonfire they were standing by. There is a flashing beacon on my vehicle and when they saw it they dropped the kittens and ran. A Garda patrol car also came on the scene. I could not get to the kittens as they ran off in opposite directions. But thankfully they did not end in the bonfire.”
