Diabetes protest gets results

A SPECIALIST dietician for children with diabetes in Cork was finally appointed yesterday, almost a year after the post was promised.

The announcement was made as about 40 parents and children protested for the second time outside Cork University Hospital (CUH) about the lack of specialist staff and services at its paediatric diabetes unit.

The shortages are preventing the 270 children attending the CUH clinic from getting the same level of care as children with diabetes in Dublin, they said.
