GARDAÍ have swapped speed cameras for the movie-making kind to help a group of young people shoot their own educational film.

The short film Crash, which tells the story of a drunken escapade that ends in tragedy, will be shown in secondary schools around the country to help drive home the message that drink and driving can be a lethal combination.

The film was made by members of the Sandyford Area Youth Project with the support of Catholic Youth Care and gardaí from nearby Dundrum station and it also features an interview with a father who lost his son in a real-life road accident.
