THERE was huge reluctance by government and business yesterday to respond to the claim by the Archbishop of Dublin, Diarmuid Martin that money given to politicians comes with a tag.

“No money is given without some sort of vested interest,” the archbishop declared in an interview.

The economy was not run by the State — it was run by business that had an interest in a particular type of framework, he said.
