During its weekly meeting yesterday, the Cabinet discussed crime levels ahead of a debate on the issue in the Dáil today.

A government spokesman said the cabinet discussion was part of a consultative process launched by Justice Minister Brian Lenihan before he formulates next year’s list of priorities for the Garda.
