SIPTU will meet with its 1,800 Aer Lingus members on Monday to decide what form of industrial action they will take to protest the pay freeze imposed by the company yesterday.

The union, in the midst of its biennial delegate conference in Tralee, claimed it had been left stunned by Aer Lingus’s decision to withhold 7.5% pay increases unless its members agreed to huge cost-cutting measures.

IMPACT accused the airline of using a heavy-handed and deliberately provocative approach, demonstrating an outrageous disregard for the tried and tested industrial relations machinery of the state.
