A DESIRE by companies to share people’s personal information has led the Data Protection Commissioner to publish new guidelines controlling the practice.

According to the Data Protection Commissioner’s office, there has been an “increased desire” on behalf of some companies’ data controllers to consider sharing personal information which had initially been collected to provide a service.

In some cases the data controllers have, according to the commissioner, been applying to enter the personal data on an industry-wide database or other such broad database.
