ONE in 10 students are dropping out of school before Leaving Certificate, representing a reduction in long-standing trends, an OECD report suggests.

The organisation’s Education at a Glance 2007 report lists Ireland as one of seven out of 30 developed countries in which more than 90% of young people complete second-level education.

The figure has stood at around 80% since the mid-’90s, with around one in five leaving early.
