BOTH Bertie Ahern and the late Charles Haughey turned to the same forensic accountant when the tribunals of inquiry sought extensive reports on their financial dealings.

A report on Taoiseach Bertie Ahern’s transactions was provided to the Mahon Tribunal by forensic accountant Des Peelo in April 2006; the same man who was consulted by the late Mr Haughey in his dealings with the Moriarty Tribunal.

The initial report compiled by Mr Peelo is now the centre of controversy as it failed to mention any foreign exchange dealings.
