Staff drink to €10m winner

THE champagne corks were popped and the excited staff at the Statoil service station in Tuam were as bubbly as the drink yesterday as they toasted to a customer who won more than €10 million in a ticket bought there in the mid-week Lotto.

“I hope it brings happiness to whoever won it and we are as excited ourselves here in the shop as if we were the winners,” said Vera Murphy, assistant manager.

Customers were congratulating staff at the filling station and shop on the busy N17 route between Sligo and Claregalway.

A National Lottery spokesperson said the ticket was bought on Wednesday.

“Nobody has been in contact with our office yet and the winner got lucky with a €6 quick pick. The numbers are 12, 18, 22, 25, 26 and 29,” said the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, Wexford is going Lotto crazy after a third win in a month.

On Friday, August 17, a €500,000 winning ticket was sold at Whitemills Centra station on the Wexford Road.

It was a €6 quick pick Euromillions plus match 5 ticket, which was claimed a fortnight later.
