THREE people appeared in court yesterday after their behaviour in two separate incidents forced planes to divert to Shannon Airport.

In the first case, Volodymyr Litovkin, 42, from Ukraine, was given a suspended one-month sentence and fined a total of €700 after he pleaded guilty to three charges arising out of the incident on board a Martinair flight from Amsterdam to Cuba.

His wife, Irynn Litovkin, 39, was given a one-month suspended sentence and ordered to keep the peace for six months after she pleaded guilty at Miltown Malbay District Court to similar charges.
