Galway firm inks deal for micro-needle patch

GALWAY medical device company Crospon has produced an industry-first skin patch which can deliver medicine directly into the body and which has been modelled directly on ink-jet cartridges.

The patch will deliver one or more drugs into the body using microneedles. Those needles penetrate the skin, something which Crospon said does not happen with nicotine patches.

According to Crospon, the microneedles allow medication to quickly enter the bloodstream, resulting in the potential delivery of lower and more precise dosages.
